Walpole Walpole is 425 kms south of Perth, on the South Coast Highway, at the head of the Walpole Inlet, from whence the town name is derived. Governor Stirling named the town. This area was set aside as a national park in 1910. By the 1920's tourism to the area was increasing. The town was gazetted in 1933 as Nornalup as it was mistakenly believed there was a town called Walpole in Tasmania. In 1934 the name changed to Walpole after the error was discovered |
