Ashfield

Ashfield is a small Perth suburb located on the east side of Guildford Road between Bassendean and Bayswater. The suburb was probably named after the nearby Ashfield Reserve. A few railway houses sprang up here before or in the early 1950's. In the 1950's and 1960's this area was developed by the then State Housing Commission as affordable houses. Most were on a rent/buy scheme but even at late as 2024, some 22% of properties here are still owed by the state government.
