Bolgart

A small wheat town north of Toodyay on the Bindi Bindi - Toodyay Road. Bolgart is some 126 kilometres north east of Perth and is in the southern part of the Shire of Victoria Plains. The name comes from the nearby spring which was discovered in 1836 by explorer Mr G. Moore. In the 1840's, early settler Mr Scully named his property Bolgart. The town is also on the Toodyay - Bindi Bindi railway and was gazetted in 1909. The Bolgart name is of Aboriginal origin

Bolgart - Railway Station

The train station is now in poor repair. This is the old station master's building when there was a station master here, including a parcels office and store room. Being brick, this would be a of a later vintage than many old stations around this part of the country. (Info from former Miling Station Master, Kevin Rosier). October 2011. Photos Ref: BOLG005

An old house in town which is unoccupied at present. Some building materials on the front verandah and round the site suggest that someone is going to undertake some repair work soon. October 2011. Photos Ref: BOLG009

Bolgart - Trees Cafe

In the main town area, the Trees Cafe occupies what was once the Bank of New South Wales Building. The building was constructed in 1939. I didn't see an operating bank in town today. I called in here for a spot of lunch in November 2014 and I can recommend this place. Open on a Sunday too! October 2011. Photos Ref: BOLG010
