Gilgering Gilgering is a district located on the Great Southern Highway between York and Beverley. The only building that continues to exist is the former Anglican Church. The Reverend Frederick Lynch was the church's first rector, indeed he stayed on in the that role until his death 31 some years later. Mr George Fletcher Moore obtained a crown farming grant of 6,000 acres in 1834 (later expanded to 8,000 acres). Mr F. W. Fleay and sons later acquired the property |

Gilgering - Church St Peter's Church, Cemetery and Glebe. The church has been deconsecrated. Ownership passed to the National Trust of Australia in 2014. The church and grounds look immaculate and are a credit to The Friends who look after them. September 2019. Photos Ref: GILG002 |
Gilgering - Church - Historic Graves Respectfully, here are some pioneer headstones in the churchyard. I found it quite humbling to see that some of these people were born before the State of Western Australia was even founded (1829). There is the headstone of the Rector of 31 years, The Reverend Frederick Lynch, and his wife Margaret. September 2019. Photos Ref: GILG003 |
Gilgering - Church - Unnamed Grave One marked but unnamed plot in the churchyard. There are others, as there are in most old cemeteries. Whereas the actual church building has been deconsecrated, the cemetery land has not been and cannot be because of the existence of the graves. September 2019. Photos Ref: GILG004 |
