Muchea A small town located on Brand Highway, a few kms from the Great Northern Highway junction and around 60 kms north of Perth. It's just 13 kms north of Bullsbrook. The name is derived from the Aboriginal word, Muchela. Back in the late 1890's a railways signwriter was thought to have mis-spelt the original name, dropping the 'L' and the new spelling prevailed. George Moore was a local settler in 1845 and he probably lends his name to the Moore River |

Muchea - Old Well In front of the garage and adjacent to the highway is this old well. Not used now, but in history this was an important watering place for horses. The well was sunk in 1895. A local consortium refurbished the well in the early 1990's. The well was officially re-opened, complete with plaque, on June 26, 1993. July 2011. Photos Ref: MUCH003 |

Muchea - Old School Site This is the site of the old Muchea school - 1905 to 1952. The sign says that all that remains of the building now is the brick fireplace but as this looks like private property now, I didn't go in to find it. July 2011. Photos Ref: MUCH004 |

Muchea - House This is pretty typical of houses in Muchea. More of a cottage really and looking quite charming. These building blocks are huge with plenty of room for a patch of lawn, fruit trees and a vegetable garden and space for kids to play safely. July 2011. Photos Ref: MUCH007 |

Muchea - Old Holden This old 'FJ' 1950's Holden sits outside someone's property. No use in going and knocking at the door asking to buy it though - look at the number plate! July 2011. Photos Ref: MUCH008 |

Muchea - Railway Lines This is part of the Perth - Geraldton narrow-gauge line. There was once a railway station building but this has been removed. Now just this crossing maze and a rusty loop-line remain. The main line doesn't look as if it is much used either. July 2011. Photos Ref: MUCH010 |
