Ardath This locality is on the Bruce Rock to Corrigin Road and owes its existence to the Corrigin to Bruce Rock railway line. The townsite is 253 kms east of Perth and about 20 kms south of Bruce Rock. Upon establishment in 1914 it was originally called Kerkenin but this was changed as the name was considered to be too similar to Kukerin. The name Ardath may have been derived from a biblical prophet, or from a novel by Marie Corelli which title contains the name |

Ardath - Road Sign Driving south towards Corrigin, here is a simple sign announcing that the townsite is up ahead. In fact the townsite is off the road and if you were overly intent on your driving or even if you were purposely wanting to visit the locality, it is very easily missed. June 2013. Ardath - Old Station Sign In the townsite is this old sign which may have originated from the old railway station. It certainly looks of that style. June 2013. Photos Ref: ARDA002 |

Ardath - Hotel Apart from a few houses there is not much in town. The population must number well under 100, perhaps a lot less. The town is special though as it is one of those rare tiny places that has a grand, old-style two-storey hotel, like Greenhills or Spencers Brook, for example. The hotel was completed and opened in 1926. June 2013. Photos Ref: ARDA003 |

Ardath - Town from Rail Yard From down at the rail yards, this is looking back towards the hotel. In the foreground is an old railways loading ramp. You can see the old rail sign towards the right, near the car. June 2013. Photos Ref: ARDA005 |

Ardath - Rail Yard The rail line looking south towards Corrigin. A branch line wends its way into the outbound wagon loading hopper. Road trucks actually deliver the grain into the facility from the farms. The trains probably haul the grain down to the CBH depot at Kwinana. June 2013. Photos Ref: ARDA006 |

Ardath - Side Street One of the side streets in town. No sealed surface here. This road runs up past the hotel towards the old school. June 2013. Photos Ref: ARDA007 |

Ardath - Old School From 1915 through to 1985 this was an operating school. It consisted of this single classroom which looks in pretty good shape. Mrs Veitch was the teacher in 1915 and the school then had 14 pupils. June 2013. Photos Ref: ARDA010 |

Ardath - Old School Another look at the school room. It appears like someone is looking after this building well, perhaps actually living here. June 2013. Photos Ref: ARDA011 |
