Glen Forrest Originally named Amherst in 1902, then Smith's Mill the following year, the present name of Glen Forrest was adopted in 1915. It is a concatenation of the local glen plus Premier John Forrest's surname. A timber milling centre and settlement existed here by 1877, twenty five years before the townsite was declared. The suburb is on the southern side of the Great Eastern Highway and is between Darlington and Mahogany Creek. South of here is extensive bush |
