Kewdale

Kewdale is a locality adjacent to Welshpool and Perth Airport and was established in 1949. Kew Street was one of the first roads constructed in the area and is probably name after the Melbourne suburb. Several decades ago, much of this suburb's area was taken up by the Kewdale Freight Terminal. Standard gauge railway runs north to Midland and south to Fremantle. The terminal still exists albeit smaller. Much heavy industry continues to be centred here

Kewdale - Old Prospector Railcars

So this is where the old Prospector (train) ended up. I wonder how many years it's sat here for and what, if any, plans are in store for it? October 2008. Photos Ref: KEWD001

Kewdale - Tomato Lake

Tomato Lake a little bit further south on a really windy and rainy July day, so much so that I got water on the lens and the wind was so strong I could hardly keep the camera level! July 2011. Photos Ref: KEWD004

BP has an array of fuel storage tanks in Kewdale. Some pipes run under the road to fill up rail fuel trucks on the other side. All the tanks are neatly labeled - Unleaded, Jet A1, Diesel etc... but Slops? July 2011. Photos Ref: KEWD012
